Samhain – CopyCat Round 4

We all have our favorite holiday, for me it’s always been Samhain (pronounced Sao-wen).
In Celtic tradition, Samhain begins the evening of October 31 and ends with the end of November 1. In many cultures, children dress up as ghosties and goblins to trick the fae folk into thinking they are not a human child but instead a fae. They then go around to houses and in turn, pretending to be a fae asking for a treat or threatening tricks and mischief on their homes.

Sounding familiar? That’s because Samhain is the old name for…

Round 3 CopyCat Winner!

Well wouldn’t you know it! Another round has completed!

This past week we told Alejandro to not call our names, it was a Bad Romance and we all know it. We wandered through the American Horror woods after finishing the halftime show and taking in all the Applause. It was a busy week being Gaga!

Honestly, I did not know how the judges were going to choose this week! They were all so good! Which is why I leave the judging to them and spend a full day getting ready for my favorite holiday, Samhain.

But we still needed to have a winner this week! Someone to hold the round trophy and call themselves a Gaga Imposter!

CopyCat Cycle Week 2 Results

Sorry these results are late my homies… had an error on a submission of the judge’s vote (not their fault obviously) and then I had to do work for money to pay bills so I can have electricity to type up these posts!!!

We had such an amazing week last week with our Lord of the Rings Images that I thought I would send the models down a Simpler path. The problem is, however, how to recreate an image from Alice in Wonderland when there are actually 19 known film adaptations of the Lewis Carrol Novel. That’s only the film adaptations. There are multiple video games and definitely a few songs from the 70s that discussed the, ahem, “Magic Foods”.

Story time, my irl name is Alison (OH MY GOD ITS NOT ONA?!??) and as a little girl I honestly thought it was Alison Wonderland instead of Alice in Wonderland. I was deathly afraid of the jabberwocky….

CopyCat Round 1 Winner!

Well I could not have asked for a better week 1! Our models did not disappoint me or the judges for that matter, with their amazing copycat shots! I cant deny that when I first pitched this idea to Kat and Kai, I thought for certain they would turn it down. Then I thought the models would hate me and be so frustrated recreating images instead of taking their own. Then I thought people would not join the cycle. But here we are with these gorgeous images, literally all of them are really good at being really good at taking amazing shots! I love them all forever!!!!

And while all of this is all well and good….

We do have a winner to announce…

An Unexpected Journey – Lord of the Rings

Week one is upon us! I figured, why not start the whole thing out with my favorite movie of all time! Boondock Saints!

Ona, are you ok?
Nah, it’s my anniversary weekend, and I am away at a cabin without my children. I’m GREAT!

For reals though, Lord of the Rings! One of my all time favorite and what some consider the grandmother of all known fantasy literature! It makes my heart so happy! So I gave the models the prompt to CopyCat a memorable LotR scene. I am excited to say that NOT ONE MODEL picked the same theme! The unique takes this round make my nerdy heart swoon!

CopyCat Edition – AUDITIONS OPEN

Oh my god we’re back again!
Ona here with exciting news! It’s time for a full blown cycle for EVERYONE to join! I am currently accepting applications to join me on this new (hopefully permanent) cycle!

But Ona, what is this new edition?

It’s a CopyCat cycle where you are given well known or iconic themes to “copy” but the twist is that YOU choose the scene or the image to use. Judges will decide who hits their mark the best.

But Ona, wont this leave a lot to the personal opinion of the judges?

Not necessarily.
You see, our judges are still required to base their choices on composition, theme, and glamour, with highest focus being on the composition of the image. Listen you could look exactly like Darth Vader fighting Luke in the lava fields, but if you have a Dutch Angle and no depth of field, well, you might not win that round my good human.

But Ona, what if I don’t understand the theme of the week?

Ask your friends, take to google, spend 20 hours and 18 minutes in deep contemplated review…

Ok Ona, so I am ready to join! What do you need from me?

A headshot and a freestyle shot of your choice. Please ensure that they are submitted by 10/1 (12:01am EST). When you submit your shot, I will send you the rules for the cycle.

So Ona, how long will the cycle last?

The first week of voting starts October 8th and runs for 6 weeks with the Cycle winner announcing on 11/16.

Deadline to submit your audition closes on 10/1 at 12:01 am EST.

Time for your Crown!

Fresh Faces 2 has come to a close and our weekly winners have been able to stun our judges with their amazing shots.

Though we lost Portia to IRL needs partway through, we kept 9 amazing models right through the final!

I kept reminding the models that we have had models who never win a round take the whole competition, and this I think helped the models keep focused on their weekly challenges. We had six weeks with unique challenges presented to the models, and six weeks of shots highlighting the unique personalities of the models.
