Classic Cycle 12 Round 7 Winner

Hi everyone! Adding this via an auto drop because I’m going to be at the doctor all day today. For the challenge last week, our models were tasked with showing off some Battle Glitter and giving us a flash action shot with lots of sparkles. We got to see a lot of fun ideas with this round, since opponents were optional and it was all about the shinies instead. But we had a clear winner this week, with the judges and the community agreeing, and that goes to Yomu Kazul for his throwback vaporwave poster. Congratulations!

This looks straight out of the ’80s, as Omega’s eyeball looms from the background and our hero shows off his battle flames. The poster effect is enhanced by the limited color palette and grainy filters. I’m tempted to slap a movie title on it and print this one out. Nicely done!

We have ONE MORE WEEK for ENTM’s Classic Cycle 12! Also please stay tuned for news about our next cycle, which will be opening up for auditions in the next few weeks!

Classic Cycle 12 Round 7 – Battle Glitter

Hi everyone! We’re in the home stretch for Classic Cycle 12. Our models have all stuck with us for this competition, and I’m so proud of everyone for pushing through so far.

This week’s challenge was Battle Glitter – an action shot where a model was for an “Action shot, does NOT need visible enemy. Flashiest attack you can make.” If Boss Monster was our technically challenging battle round, this one was meant to be the artistic one. We know the XIV engine’s battle system can be stunningly beautiful, and here’s our models showing it off to its fullest!

Classic Cycle 12 Round 6 Winner

Hi everyone! Last week’s challenge was for our models to take a mount and go get a picture while riding it. This is a scenic round with a technical challenge, since balancing out the mount, the model, and the background requires careful composition and attention to detail.

Our judges had a really tough time ranking this round, because every single shot was outstanding. But at the end of the scoring, we still had a clear winner and the community and the judges agreed for only the second time this cycle! Congratulations to Yume Aawkot for taking home the prize this week.

This shot looks like a poster straight out of my childhood. The careful use of filters allows the mount to pop right out of the background, despite the similar coloration, and the hunter themed glamour ties everything together. I think more than one of us might be adding this shot to our ENTM background rotation. Click on the picture for the full size version!

Classic Cycle 12 Round 6 – On a Mount

Hi folks! We’re back for another classic round for Classic Cycle 12: On a Mount! This round is a technically challenging scenic round, in which our models are asked to present a picture with them riding a mount, while also telling a story and of course making it look as cool as possible. The exact round requirements were “Must be mounted on any mount – ground, flying, swimming. No battle chocobos.”

Classic Cycle 12 Round 5 Winner!

Hi everyone! Our challenge last week was for our models to show off their Day Job – some activity besides being a supermodel to pay the bills. All of our lovely models came up with some unique and creative ideas, but the winner this week put a new twist on an existing job by showing how it’s been part of XIV since the very beginning: Elessia Sedai for her Ul’dahn dancer!

Judges appreciated the careful details of her matching glam, her hairstyle, and accessories. But they also liked her clean composition, as our hard working dancer takes a little breather and leans against a barrel to relax for a moment. Congratulations!

Classic Cycle 12 Round 5 – Day Job

Hi everyone! We’re back this week with a fresh take on one of our most classic themes. Previously, this theme was called “Eorzea at Work” but we expanded and simplified it for this cycle with the name Day Job.

Our models were asked to take a “free style” shot (scenic, battle, or fashion) showing us how they earn their living when they’re not being a super model or an adventurer. The exact description of this challenge was “DoL, DoH, or a job that could be done by someone in a city state (e.g. guard, hunter.)” Well, our models came from a wonderful variety of backgrounds, as their day jobs show us!

Classic Cycle 12 Round 4 Winner

This week’s theme was Wide Open Spaces, a scenic round in which are models were asked to photograph themselves enjoying an outdoor vista. The judges votes were very close this week, but thanks to our community votes we don’t quite have a three way tie.

The winner for this week is Rymmrael Bhaldraelwyn for her unique take on a wide open space, giving us a stunning underwater view, with a carefully coordinated red bathing suit to match the scenery. The risky back shot paid off here, as our model floats serenely in the water looking out at the red coral and the shafts of light filtering down from the surface, acting in place of the sky.

Congratulations Rymm! (And hey I’ve figured out how to do full size single images finally, so click below to embiggen!)

Classic Cycle 12 Round 4 – Wide Open Spaces

Welcome back for another week of wonderful screenshots from our models! Last week we gave them a really tough technical challenge and asked them to go fight something big and nasty. This week we allowed them to take a break and go on vacation someplace pretty.

The theme is Wide Open Spaces and the requirements were scenic style (no battle allowed) with the suggestion to “Show your character enjoying a lovely vista outdoors!” The scenery is the costar for this round, so here’s what our models came up with!

Classic Cycle 12 Round 3 Winner!

Hi everyone! Round 3 was Boss Monster, probably our most technically challenging round of the cycle. Our models found a wonderful variety of big bad bosses to pick a fight with, but after some close voting from the judges (and input from our community votes) the winner this round was Djevh’a Frehtj!

Our judges liked the balance of red and blue and the dynamic poses of both boss and model. This shot is a stellar example of an classic “epic battle” that Final Fantasy games are so famous for. Congratulations!

Classic Cycle 12 Round 3 – Boss Monster

Hi folks! For our round this week, I asked our models to go fight a Boss Monster – that is, to go into a trial, arena, or dungeon and pick one of the big bosses to use as a costar this round. They had to be visibly engaged with the enemy and the monster had to be bigger than they are! This round is partially inspired by the card game of the same name.

As far as our round themes go, this one is technically challenging because boss monsters are notoriously uncooperative. Getting both the player character and the entire boss in the shot is frequently impossible, so the goal is to use creative angles and camera tricks to make the battle shot still look as epic as possible. All twelve of our models rose to the challenge this week, and so here is their take on Big Bad Bosses:
